As you’ll see in tomorrow’s paper…
August 15, 2007…I’ve been buried writing high school previews.
Frenchy asked me to post this:
The first-annual Kevin St. Pierre JDRF Golf Classic will be held Sept. 16 at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville. The cost is $200 for a four-player team with a maximum of 36 teams, and that includes green fees, two golf carts and dinner. Included is a drawing for two Komets season tickets. To enter, call Noble Hawk at 1-888-Golf-321 or Nicole Hansen at 927-1300. The event starts at 2 p.m.

I am thinking Jungle Monkey, Komet Warrior, Scoops and Hit Somebody would make an awesome but rather strange foursome in that event. Anyone want to throw up some money to sponsor us? I would let Tony E or Super Fan carry my clubs. LOL

Think they would let Komet Warrior wear his tights and cape on the course? I think Tony E and Greg are already signed up to do commentary for the event.
I can see it now… I’m putting for a victory on the 18th green and Scoops is over at the cart path bench pressing the golf cart to get in shape for the bean bag tossing…

Sorry. Going to be driving to South Dakota that weekend.

I can’t get into golf. Not until they allow checking and fighting on the course.

Normally I would jump at the chance to play some golf and bench press golf carts but September means football on Sundays.

Kevin don’t want to play it the fort and he’ll take players with him, but he’ll come back here & take our money. ??????????????

I’m sure the money will stay in the area.

This event may have already been booked before he left for Tulsa.

Blake - thanks so much for posting the information, you can’t know how much we appreciate all of your help. Greg, you are correct. 100% of the proceeds will go to JDRF. Nobody is going to make a personal profit off of this event. Any expenses that Kevin and I incur will be out-of-pocket. Everything else has been donated.
I just thought I would clarify those points - I did not want there to be any misunderstandings and yes, the Komets will be involved.

Thanks Heather.

I know for sure that the profits will be 100% for JDRF. My husband & I have bid several times for JDRF. We have never had any problems. We bid on Kevins Jersey before he left. It has been a true blessing for everything that he does.
Komet fans should know how good hearted Kevin was and still is. Look at what he is doing for The Tulsa Oilers and that boy that lost his father in Iraq.
Whether it was booked before he left or he is coming back to Help Nicole for JDRF. This means so much to him.
If Kevin reads this good luck with Tulsa and hope to hear from him when he gets into Fort Wayne.

Who really cares when, where or whatever? It’s a charity event and it’s a good thing. It could be on the moon for all I care. Let’s not miss the point.

If you were directing your comment at me for saying it may have been agreed upon before he left for Tulsa then you need to get a clue. Under no circumstances was I being negative about it. Someone asked a question I gave a short opinion. If it wasn’t then nevermind and I will just go on haveing my bad day.
August 16, 2007 at 6:29 pm
Nah, not you. I just meant in general.

I would like to thank Kevin for everything that he has done for the Komets and the Fort Wayne community. The past several years have been a lot of fun watching one of the best goalies in minor pro hockey play here in the Fort.
Best of luck to you and your family in Tulsa. You’ll always be welcome here in Fort Wayne and the MC.

First of all - no need to thank me gang. I owe many thanks to you for supporting me on and off the ice. People may be wondering why I am doing this, it is just my way to give back to a City that gave so much to me and my family. As you all know, I have three kids, so children and their health and happiness are incredibly important to me. I am very blessed - as my children are all healthy. Others are not so lucky. We some how managed to beat the odds - 1 out 3 kids in the US has type 1 diabetes.
I am hoping to make this an annual event in Fort Wayne. I am also working hard on creating something for the kids in Tulsa. Not only do I get to see the families that I have met in Fort Wayne who are battling this disease, but all of the other important people (friends and fans) that have done so much for me that last four years.
I just want people to know that my departure had nothing to do with the City or the organization. It was a private, family decision, nothing more. I wish the Komets much success and still have a very good relationship with the Franke family. I hope to see you all in September, even if you can’t make it out to Noble Hawk. Thanks again!
