More from Soupy

April 24, 2006

He is extremely happy to be here, though he got lost on 469 and didn’t recognize Jefferson Pointe, either. He met with coach Greg Puhalski and the Frankes today and told them he’d do whatever they needed from him. He said the only reason he wasn’t here earlier was because of his wife’s recovery from surgery, but she’s doing well and he was able to fly his mother-in-law out over the weekend.

"The Frankes have been great to me all the time when I played here and the years after,” he said. "They have always been first-class to me. I have no qualms about playing for them at all, but this was a situation with my family.”

His wife may join him in Fort Wayne if the Komets advance past this round.

He said he’s in pretty decent shape because he’s been running and riding the bike at home. The only Komets he knows are former defensive partner Guy Dupuis and Jonathan Goodwin who he knows from skating around the Boston area.

He’ll wear No. 28 and said his groin strain is now 100 percent.

As for next year:

“I’m just going to take the playoffs right in front of us and concentrate on that. I’m sure next year will take care of itself, and we’ll address that later.”

He doesn’t think he’ll be too nervous on Tuesday night, just excited.

Campbell also said he became pretty good friends with former Komet Danny Stewart in Danbury. I told him to wait until he heard Lance Galbraith and then decide who talks more. My vote is on Galley, if only because he forgets to breathe when he gets wound up. Right now the Komets need that energy.

    How does 1 get lost on 469..its a circle…

and Jefferson Pointe wasn’t here when he played in Fort Wayne in the late 90’s

  2. David Says:

Great to here that he is here and ready to play. His added experience will pay dividends. Here is a link of the fight between Jorde and Watson this is on icehogs.com..
http://www.icehogs.com/media/042306.wmv…It was a good go and Jorde lost his balance..Watson is a strong guy.

  3. Bob Says:

Does that mean he will get lost in the MC since it is a bigger building now?!? Let’s just hope that he plays well enough to help us get back in the series. I just don’t want to see anyone else get badly injured.

  4. doug Says:

LIKE I SAID OVER @JUSTINS BLOG WATSON IS A LOSER HE DID NOT BLOW JORDE AWAY IN THAT FIGHT JORDE GOT HIT ONE TIME HARD AND THEN LOST HIS BALANCE MAYBE WATSON WILL WAVE HIS
ORANGE JUMPSUIT OVER HIS HEAD NEXT TIME HE
BREAKS INTO SOMEBODYS HOUSE LIKE HE DID IN
    ASHVILLE!!

  5. blake Says:

Mark, the fact that Jefferson Pointe wasn’t here in the late 90s was the whole point. Get it?

  6. Tony E Says:

Fort Wayne has changed alot in the last 10 years. 469, the park downtown, Jefferson, Southtown gone are just some of the things that have either started and finished or were in the process of being built since I lived there.

  7. DL Says:

Watson is an idiot…plain and simple…I hope one of the K’s pay him back for his little show he put on at the end of the fight…what a loser.

  8. Hit Somebody!!! Says:

Glad he is coming…maybe that will help and give everyone else something to get excited about…we need 2 wins and then a win at Rockford.

  9. Mark Says:

    Blake,

    I know…lol

  10. blake Says:

I just wasn’t sure I wasn’t so tired that I didn’t make it clear enough, if that makes any sense.

  11. Hit Somebody!!! Says:

Big game tomorrow Super Fan…get some sleep.

  12. Greg Says:

I’m glad Campbell’s here and it sounds like he’s sound body and mind so we’re okay if Nuemeier can’t play. Tough luck for Bozoian as I figure the K’s will bench him. I think he’s a little under-rated.

  13. carl Says:

I thought “Super Fan” was that guy that they locked up.

  14. Tony E Says:

As long as we don’t confuse Super Fan with Morganna the kissing bandit 😉

  15. ilovehockey Says:

I’d like to see Guinn fight Watson again. You notice, Chase said that Watson backed away from Guinn Sunday. He knew that he had his butt whipped big time by Guinner. Guess he thought he’d go for Jorde. Hopefully, they get a rematch too, with Jorde staying upright. Sometimes you juts have to pound somebody to knock them down a little.

  16. Jungle Monkey Says:

Watson needs a serious beating. Outside of being a punk on the ice, he’s a thug off of it as well. Wish we had a guy that matched up well against him. If anyone in this league deserves a beating it’s Bruce Watson. Maybe Jorde gives it another go, but I wouldn’t count on it.

  17. Greg Says:

I wouldn’t mind any of this as long as it doesn’t put the Komets at a disadvantage. I want revenge by beating them on the scoreboard first and formost, the rest of this can come later.

  18. Nanci Says:

I agree Greg. I would like for someone to beat the crap out of Watson, he’s an SOB. Tonight we are going to put the puck in the net….Dickie is going to be rattled at first. GO KOMETS!!!! ROCK THE JUNGLE!!

  19. ilovehockey Says:

I agree about not wanting any of the Komets to get hurt. We don’t need any more of that. I just hate to see a team full of goons, like Rockford, walk all over us. I’m not a big fighting fan, but some times it just needs to be done. It feels like we’re playing Muskegan all over again from last playoffs. They are nothing but a bunch of idiots too. Hopefully, the momentum swings the other way tonight.

  20. Jungle Monkey Says:

What a change in this board. What happened to the fans that said that fights were not needed. Where are the people that were jumping down our throats for wanting physical play?

    Go Komets!

Beat the Hogs on the scorboard and upside their thug heads!

  21. Greg Says:

Physical play is great as long as you aren’t penalized for it. And I hate showboating or too much celebrating even win the K’s are doing it.

  22. kometgirl Says:

Does anybody have a link to the galbraith fight from friday’s game (April 21rst). I missed the entire second period of that game so i missed his fight.
