Have a great weekend

June 30, 2006

I know I will. Looks like the weather is going to be awesome!

Coming tomorrow I’ve got some in-depth features on John Marks and Pat Bingham dealing with what kind of coaches Komets’ fans can expect depending on who gets the job. I’m more convinced than ever that the Komets can’t go wrong with. Everybody: fans, management, players, seem to love both of these guys.

Of course in December that won’t stop some of you on the blog from complaining about how we didn’t get the other one. LOL. I’m going to be out of pocket, so you’ll actually have to buy the paper or look around on the site to find them.

Have a good one.

Au revoir P.C.

June 29, 2006

Forward P.C. Drouin just told me he is leaving the Komets play in Morzine, France. After a short visit to France, his wife Michelle will remain in Fort Wayne and continue to teach at IPFW. The couple recently bought a home in Fort Wayne.

"It just seemed like a good thing,” Drouin said. "It’s good money, and obviously it’s a French-speaking area.”

Drouin played two years with the Komets, scoring 24 goals and 74 points each season. Asked why he wanted to leave the Komets, Drouin said, “All the stuff in the league and how everything is changing. It doesn’t seem very stable. I didn’t enjoy last year much, and I was kind of looking for something else to try out a new experience.”

Passing the Torch

June 28, 2006

I just saw where the Boston Bruins fired coach. The PERFECT replacement would be John Torchetti who lives in Boston, speaks Boston, IS Boston. I’ll bet he knows as much or more about the Bruins’ players as the team’s current management because he watches every game.

He’d also be perfect because the city is down on the team, the star players such as Thornton and Samsonov have left and they are desperate for a winner. Don’t those circumstances sound awfully familiar?

Torch is great at turning situations around. Lord knows he’s had to do it enough. He brings emotion, stability, fire, plus, very important in this situation, he knows how to work with young players.

Reports are today that former Red Wings assistant Dave Lewis is going to be the new coach. Former Komet Bob Essensa is also an assistant with the Bruins.

We need a new topic here

June 25, 2006

So, what do you replace hockey with in the summer?

Me? I sleep once in a while and also have a somewhat normal (ha!) life as long as the team isn’t looking for a new coach. Sometimes I even get two whole days off in a row. Then I get bored real easy.

Coaching connundrum

June 22, 2006

So who do you think should be the Komets’ next coach and why, Pat Bingham or John Marks? If you’ve been following closely, and I know you have, you know quite a bit about them. Which do you like?
