In the lineup

October 27, 2006

With the one-game suspension for Bogdan Rudenko, the Komets are putting Jonas Gabrielsen in the lineup tonight. His advantage is that he can play both forward and defenseman.

    Wow….Bob said “DAMN” LOL

  2. Tony E Says:

    It sounds like
Big Snake is still at it. You guys still want him?

  3. Hoss Says:

I think KW was really the only one that wanted him! (Does he really count?)

GOOD JOB TONIGHT MR.LARRY THE P.A. GUY
one thing please slow down when you are calling out the goal scorer. in sec 227 we can’t hear very well.bad pa you know.

  5. David Says:

I give Domber credit he fought the Snake. It was the first game for me this year and I liked the size of the K’s, speed, and overall grit of the team but I was a little disappointed that Bingham did not allow Morcey (sp) to fight Snake and he had 3 chances to do so. THe game was in hand and Rockford started to take some liberties on the ice and that to me is the perfect time “to send” a message and let the boys be boys. Mario is a big guy, but he too must take a more physical stance on the ice. Watson challenged him after Mario delivered a elbow to Benefield and he to turned it down. I am sure most of you will tell me I am wrong and that we showed great restraint and our powerplay was hot and I will agree, but when you have the game in hand and another team wants to further embarrass themselves with sucker punches and slashes then I say turn the guys loose and let them have their fun. One last thing Blake please send Dickey your article on officiating because from what I saw players do not know what is a penalty and what is not with some of the new “NHL” type rules…

David more than being disciplined I think you don’t take a chance on letting Morency get hurt in a fight in that situation. He is proving himself to be very valuable. I am not saying that means he should never fight because that is part of his game. But not much good could have come from him dropping them in that situation.

  7. David Says:

Tony come on, Morency wanted to go and even skated to the bench and Bingham flat out shook his head NO…What if he would have gotten his nose broken when he was sucker punched? I saw that type of play all last year and I do not want to go another season of watching that happen. Even Guy got sucker punched late in the game. The power play was hot tonight and we beat them where it counts on the score board but I expect a team that stands up for themselves like Franke and Bingham promised. I am not saying they should not goat guys like Big Snake or Watson into dumb penalties, but when you have the game in hand that is the time to settle the score IMO.

  8. Heather Says:

    amen to that

  9. Hit Somebody!!! Says:

David is probably right…but Big Snake looked like the biggest arse I have ever seen doing what he did. He is unstable and a freaking idiot. I love watching Rockford meltdown when we are smoking their hind-ends. I think someone should have been sent onto the ice to take out Watson. He was the guy that was delivering the cheapshots….him and Benefield. Both were dirty as can be. Both needed a pounding.

JF Labarre took an ugly blindsided hit from Watson that could have ended his career. It was 30x worse than the hit that everyone bitched and moaned about all week that Rudenko gave out. Watson got 2 minutes for charging. He should have got the gamer and suspensions….and an arse-whooping.

  10. Tony E Says:

Let me play the other part and say once you are the team that has the game at hand, why are you the one with the score to settle? Really what good comes from it other than a possible injury? I applaud coach in this situation because the Komets have been guilty all season of taking dumb penalties and he is trying to teach restraint and discipline. The Komets will have plenty of games with Rockford this season to even any scores that might be needed.
All this being said I understand and respect your philosophy David. You are certainly not alone. We just happen to disagree on how to approach things.

  11. Tony E Says:

If that hit was that dangerous I wonder if the Komets can send in a tape to the league for review. There have been suspension in the OHL for incidents even when no penalty was called on the ice because I team sent a tape to the league office.

  12. Heather Says:

If peopld didn’t disagree on things what kind of world would we be living in?

  13. Tony E Says:

That is very true. I always look at this like bloggers are going to disagree, that is natural. As long as there is respect and a willingess to at least “hear” the opposing point of view it will almost always lead to good discussion.

  14. Hoss Says:

And you are just a poopie head Tony E!

“I’m Not Listening to YOU! I’m Not Listening to YOU! I’m Not tening to YOU! LisI’m Not Listening to YOU! I’m Not Listening to YOU! I’m Not Listening to YOU! I’m Not Listening to YOU! I’m Not Listening to YOU!”

  15. Tony E Says:

Ummm Hoss….my feelings are crushed 😉

  16. Hoss Says:

I didn’t want to say it earlier, but did anyone else notice the “worst call ever made” was made again last night when the Hogs were called for tripping and the Komets were called for diving!!!! I HATE THAT CALL!!!! JUST CALL A DO-OVER NEXT TIME!!!!

    Thanks for letting me vent!

  17. Tony E Says:

Hoss….did you say something? I wasn’t listening. LOL
Seriously I make the “worst call ever made” at least once a week (or so I am told LOL) please don’t give my title away!

  18. blake Says:

C’mon, that was a classic dive. Even the French judge gave it a 9.7. And under the new enforcement that was technically a trip as well.

  19. Hoss Says:

I saw the dive more than the trip, but for God’s sake call one or the other!!!

I will never give in to the pressure from the main stream to believe that there can be both a trip and a dive, no matter how many reasonable people say so!!!!
