Get well soon

October 30, 2006

Chuckitt tells me that Skate had a kidney transplant over the weekend and will be coming home sometime this week. He’ll be unable to attend the games for a few weeks.

So get well, Skate, and we’ll do our best to keep you posted. We’ll keep you in our prayers. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

  12. chuckitt Says:

hope they did a little work on your brain too!!

  13. Skate Says:

As usual, chuckitt got the story wrong. My transplant was last Tuesday. I came home on Saturday. Went into work for w few hours today to do some paperwork — maybe I shouldn’t have. Ha Ha.

Things seem to be going OK. The work was, in fact, done at the IU Med Center. Great doctors and nurses.

Still stiff and sore, but getting better every day, I think.

OK. There are quite a few guys in Fort Wayne breathing easier now. In my weakened pre-transplant condition, they would instigate me and I promised them when I received a kidney they would receive a butt-kicking.

Well, Herr Doktor said no more fighting (can’t go back into the ROCK bar, anymore now), so that also effective ends my hockey career.

With my thought processes approaching 100%, you can well imagine how insigtful my posts will be now!

I won’t be able to attend games for a couple of MONTHS (not weeks) as I have to avoid big crouds. Too bad I don’t live in Port Huron. Ha Ha

Toward that end, what did Franke decide about b2 broadcasts of Komet games? I was kicking around investing in a device to transmit the pic from my computer to my big screen, but I was concerned about pic quality loss. Plus, I don’t want to wait until 9:30 to watch a game.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

It might be interesting to see how they look after a coupld of months away without seeing the game to game improvement.

Get well soon Skate. You’re missing a good Komets team. Much different than the Puhalski era. Infact, it’s getting harder and harder to argue with people on here now lol.

  15. Blake Says:

Just take care, Skate. Nobody questions your toughness. Hockey will be there when you get back, and it’s certainly not worth risking your health. I’m betting you are going to become a Channel 55 Komets junkie.

  16. Jungle Monkey Says:

Skate has forgotten more about toughness than most of us will ever know…lol. Had to get it in. Hope you get better soon!

  17. Blake Says:

I love being the set-up man! I figured Hit would beat you to it.

  18. Tony E Says:

Skate I think Blake will be nice enough to foot the bill and get you a private suite complete with an air purifier so that you will be able to attend games!

  19. chuckitt Says:

last i knew a few weeks is about the same as a couple months!! i just hope you give your tickets to someone who knows hockey so we can have a breath of fresh air in the section! get well soon bouncing boy as i need someone to pick on, did i ever tell you people about the time when skate and i played major league softball together and this one time he………..

  20. Tony E Says:

  22. chuckitt Says:

skate was rounding third heading for home and he tripped on his belly and he flopped at home plate and bounced a feew times! and thats why i call him bouncing boy to this day! then there was the time………..

  23. Bob Says:

  24. FiveMinuteMajor Says:

    Get well soon, Skate!

  25. Brandon Says:

    Skate,

If you dont mind me asking I’ve got acouple questions for ya. Who did your surgery? What caused the need for the transplant? and Where did your kidney come from? Was it living related or cadaver? I don’t mean to be nosey, just curious to the condition that you went thru?

  26. Tony E Says:

    Out or safe at home?

  27. chuckitt Says:

bounced right on it ahead of the throw! safe by a bounce and a half!

  28. Tony E Says:

LOL it is plays like that that make umpiring the occasional beer league softball game worthwhile.

  29. chuckitt Says:

but what made it funnier is that it wasnt in a beer league, this was in the top division of slow pitch in town and it was usually win at all costs, no fooling around!

  30. Skate Says:

A good story, chuckitt, but, of course, totally false.

The nickname BOUNCING BOY came from the number of times my long homers bounced after flying over the 400′ fence at the diamond we played on.
