How much fun has this been so far?

April 20, 2008

Two games, and I’ve seen a few things already that I’ve never seen before. A coach get tossed from a playoff game, a 0-0 regulation playoff game, 20 power plays in a playoff game and a defenseman punching his goaltender. Not to mention David Franke behind the bench or a trio of five-on-threes against — in the same period!

Ya gotta love the playoffs. I live for this time of year. Every day you have a chance to see something you’ve never seen before.

I’ve got my own personal list of things I want to see in a Komets game before I retire. Some of the highlights include a goaltender scoring a goal, a coach activating himself to play and a team scoring goals even-strength, short-handed, power play, penalty shot and open net in a game.

Anybody else got any ideas of things you want to see someday?

I have never seen a live goalie fight. Many on video, but never live. I would also like to see someone shatter the glass, either with a shot or a hard check.

I remember seeing the Trumpeter do it in Atlanta at an all-star game. What an idiot!

I’ve seen the goalie fight another player but never the other goalie. Thought it was gonna happen a couple seasons ago against Quad City when Frenchy wanted a piece of Tapp. Or was it the other way around? Either way, that would’ve been a short fight! It seems hard to believe that as long as the K’s have been around that none of their goalies have ever scored a goal. You’d think it would’ve happened by accident once in 56 years!
